Nicki Minaj recently suggested that she will be voting for Mitt Romney on a verse that was featured on Lil Wayne’s new mixtape, Dedication 4. In her verse she raps, ““I’m a Republican voting for Mitt Romney, you lazy [expletive] is [expletive] up the economy.”
It could be a tool for shock value. Ala 2 Chainz, saying off the wall statements that makes little to no sense has become a way for rappers to get a laugh by fans who are intrigued by the goofiness of ignorant wordplay. Or, Nicki could actually be revealing her true sentiments.
Nicki has the right to align herself with any political party, but Mitt Romney’s political agenda is far from what true hip-hop has stood for in the last 30 years. But then again, some may argue that Nicki Minaj is more pop than hip-hop at this point in her career.
