When Obama decided to enter graduate school, he had no clue that it would lead to him becoming president of the United States as well as meet the love of his life.
Obama entered Harvard Law School in 1988, and the following year he met Michelle Robinson, an associate at Sidley & Austin law firm in Chicago. She was assigned to be Obama’s adviser during a summer internship at the firm. It didn’t take long before couple began dating. Their first kiss took place outside of a Chicago shopping center—where a plaque featuring a photo of the couple kissing was installed more than two decades later, in August 2012.
On October 3, 1992, Barack and Michelle were married. They moved to Kenwood, on Chicago’s South Side, and welcomed two daughters: Malia (born 1998) and Sasha (born 2001).
