On Wednesday, Oct. 3, NBC hosted a private screening of their new high-octane drama, “Chicago Fire.” Select Detroit fans and tastemakers were invited to the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History for an exclusive first look at the latest project from Emmy Award-winning executive producer, Dick Wolf of “Law & Order” fame.
“Chicago Fire” is an edge-of-your-seat look into the professional and personal lives of the firefighters, rescue squad, and paramedics of Chicago Firehouse 51. The weekly series depicts much more than the dangers, conflicts and clutch moments faced on the job as emergency responders. It also examines the personal and relational tolls exacted by the pressure to perform at such a high level, and the triumphs that can result when you dare to take big risks.
In keeping with the theme of “Chicago Fire” and in honor of the sacrifices made by real life emergency responders, NBC and rollingout.com invited members of the Detroit Fire and Police Department to be special guests at the screening and honored some of Detroit’s own hometown heroes. Those honored for their dedication and contributions to the Detroit community and its citizens were: Shawn Reaves a retired fire marshall; Angela R. Warmsby, a nurse of nine years; Nate Womack for 14 years of service as a Detroit police officer; Arron Graves ATF agent; Dr. Kanzoni Asabigi, Ph.D.; Nathaniel Turner, a retired lieutenant inspector for the City of Detroit Fire Department; Dr. Chad Audi, president and CEO of Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries, and Dr. Sandy Pepper of Wayne County Community Mental Health Agency.
Following the screening, when rolling out asked Detroit Police Officer Nate Womack for his thoughts on the show, he Detroitresponded, “I have a newfound respect for firefighters.”
Detroit was one of three cities in which “Chicago Fire” was screened. It was also screened in Houston and Charlotte, N.C.
“Chicago Fire” premieres Wednesday, Oct. 10 at 10 EST/9 CST on NBC.
