The National Association of Health Services Executives will hold its 27th Annual Educational Conference at the Hyatt Regency in Houston Oct. 10 through the 13. The NAHSE dates back to the early 1930s when a group of black health executives formed what was then called the National Hospital Association, which was an affiliate of the National Medical Association. NAHSE works to improve the access to and quality of health care services for poor, underserved and uninsured citizens.
The conference is expected to draw more than 100 leaders from the health care field to influence and support NAHSE members who are engaged in efforts to reduce health disparities, embrace cultural competency and foster health equity for everyone.
The three-day conference will consist of an opening network reception on Thursday, Oct. 11, spearheaded by keynote speaker Dr. Eduardo Sanchez, vice president and chief medical officer of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas. Julianne Malveaux Ph.D., past president of Bennett College liberal arts school for women, will deliver the keynote address at the President’s Luncheon. On Friday, Oct. 12,Radio One founder Cathy Hughes will address the NAHSE members during the Leadership Luncheon.
