Golden Globe Award-winning actor Idris Elba (“Luther,” “The Wire”) has proven that he’s dynamic onscreen. Now, the British star is stepping behind the camera and showing off his filmmaking prowess. He recently directed the video promo for Mumford & Sons latest single “Lover Of The Light.” And, he’s also starring in the video.
Mumford tells press, “We are, quite obviously, huge fans of Idris Elba’s acting work, as pretty much anyone can agree he’s a bada*s British actor,” hence Takers and American Gangster.
“So we trusted him as the director for our latest video. We’ve been fortunate to work with some great directors in the past, but we’ve always been uncomfortable with the process of making music videos.”
In the video, Elba delivers a trademark intense performance.
It’s the bands’ latest single from their hit album, Babel, and is scheduled for release on December 3.
Elba is also set to make his small-screen directorial debut next year and will direct Anna Friel in an episode of a new series from Playhouse Presents, which will air in May 2013. –yvette caslin
