We knew this was coming. Because of the widespread voter repression efforts and the push for voter I.D. laws in important swing states, most of us knew in advance that there would be questionable and dubious “mistakes” and “misplacements” of ballots and registration forms on Election Day. Many anticipated that voters would be turned away, or that election polling places would be closed without notice, or that many machines would suddenly break down without explanation. And we have not been disappointed, unfortunately.
“Tom, the hotlines are on fire,” Smukler said to Joyner about the number of complaints flooding his office already this morning. “We are getting 10,000 calls every hour coming into my hotline about election-day trickery,” said the founder of 1-866-My-Vote-1 and president of InfoVoter.
“Well, what the ‘smuck’ is going on?” asked Tom Joyner.
Smukler, who’s running the My Vote Hotline, replied “There’s a lot of smuck going on, Tom.”
Smukler proceeded to list multiple eyebrow-raising incidents at polling places nationwide. Not surprisingly, most of the problems are happening in the all-important swing state of Ohio, with a large percentage of taking place in the Democratic stronghold of Cuyahoga County, in which Cleveland is the county seat. There are also reported problems in the swing state of Florida, with, again, problems mostly reported in the Miami-Dade County area where a large percentage of African American and minority voters reside.
Take a look at Smukler’s “Election Day Trickery” report.
