Hector Camacho still hospitalized
After being shot several times in the face and neck, boxer Hector Camacho is still hospitalized in Puerto Rico. As previously reported, Hector “Macho” Camacho was a passenger in a motor vehicle Tuesday when another vehicle pulled up and open fire. The driver of Camacho’s vehicle was killed and the boxer was rushed to a local medical center where he’s currently in critical condition.
Now according to a doctor tending to Camacho, he is far from in the clear. “The situation with Macho is very delicate,” Centro Medico director Dr. Ernesto Torres told reporters during a Wednesday morning press conference. “The prognosis is not good. He went into cardiac arrest. The doctors were able to get his heart started again with the medicine and we are maintaining his blood pressure and pulse stable medically right now to see whether during this morning, afternoon or evening we see a positive change,” he added.
The doctor also noted that they’ve seen decreased brain activity in the boxing champ. “He is a strong guy,” said Dr. Torres. “The prognosis could change if he improves. The neurosurgeons are not intervening further at this point.”
A rep for Camacho is remaining positive on the situation and told reporters that Camacho has “nine lives.”
