The scene was set in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. After Grambling State’s Tigers beat Southern University’s Jaguars for four consecutive years, Coach Dawson Odum of Southern University has found redemption in 2012. Plenty of fans from Southern were on hand to celebrate the triumph. Grammy award-nominated artist Ledisi performed the national anthem for this year’s Bayou Classic.
In addition to the performances of Southern and Grambling’s historic marching bands at halftime of the Bayou Classic, this year Trumbone Shorty joined Southern during halftime to perform his hit, “Hurricane Season.” And of course, there was a bounty of food and fun for the alumni, students and the whole family.
