Being a celebrity or athlete does not cocoon that individual from the perils of wrongful living, and the substantial consequences thereof. If anything, elite athletes are oftentimes armed with more resources, money and access to “do their dirt” or live a life of iniquity or engage in illicit activities.
Besides the extreme tragedy that befell the sports world this past week when Jovan Belcher, a star player with the NFL’s Kansas City Chief, murdered the mother of his infant baby in cold blood, then journeyed to the team facility so that the head coach would witness Belcher taking himself off the planet, the sporting world is dotted with men who committed ultimate crimes of taking someone’s life.
