In 2012, there were several great moments in hip-hop. Kendrick Lamar released a classic album; Jay-Z and Kanye West rocked the nation (and much of the world) with their Watch The Throne tour; 2 Chainz proved that there are second acts in hip-hop after the age of 30; the mixtape game continues to thrive; and Nas maintains elite status in rap while closing in on 40.
But this is a new year with new expectations.
