Fans of J. Cole will have to wait a little bit longer for the Roc Nation rapper to release his follow-up to 2011’s Cole World: The Sideline Story. Cole told PopStopTV that his highly anticipated sophomore album, Born Sinner, won’t be ready in time to make the previously announced release date. While not giving specific reasons for the album, delay Cole admitted in a recent interview that the project has definitely been pushed back.
“Nah, it’s not going to make Jan. 28,” he said just before a performance at the Tao in Las Vegas this week.
“It’s going to be a little later than that. I needed more time to get it done,” Cole revealed. “I don’t even know what [fans are] going to feel. I hope they’re going to love it, but I don’t know if it’s going to be the production or the stories.”
Cole already released the single “Miss America,” in late 2012. The album title was revealed back in November and the original Jan. 28 release date was to coincide with Cole’s 28th birthday. He previously claimed that the project was “90 percent done” and that he had more creative freedom in crafting it. He has kept a tight lid on album details, however, refusing to release guest producers and any featured artists that have contributed to Born Sinner. He has indicated, however, that there will be few guest appearances.
The rapper nor Roc Nation have provided a new anticipated release date for the project.
