Two months ago, Jesse Jackson Jr. resigned his post as Illinois’ 2nd district Congressman. The Jacksons have been the target of a Federal probe to determine if campaign funds were used to decorate the couple’s Washington D.C. home. The Illinois State Board of Elections has requested Sandi Jackson give clarification on a $69,000 discrepancy in her finance reports.

Despite the probes, no official charges have been filed against the couple.

Sandi Jackson won the support of women everywhere when an unsavory article about her husband and an alleged relationship with a blonde waitress surfaced in the national press. Jackson stood by her man and kept the family intact.

Family is also the reason why Jackson is resigning from public office, she says, and Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel said he understood.

In a statement, Mayor Rahm Emanuel said Jackson’s “leadership has been greatly appreciated.”

“As Sandi takes this time to focus on her family, we give her out deepest thanks and support for her service to our city and the residents of her ward,” he said.
