Jay-Z, Damon Dash and Kareem Burke used their knowledge of street hustle to form one of the most successful independent labels in hip-hop in the ’90s. They appeared to have an unwavering bond until Jay-Z decided to break away by accepting a direct deal with Def Jam that cut his partners out of the equation. The split turned ugly and Jay-Z and Dame Dash haven’t been seen together publicly since the mid 2000s.
