Arnell Starr dies
An important figure in Atlanta music history passed away this week unbeknownst to many city residents. Arnell Starr of of “American Music Makers” fame died Tuesday after complications from a stroke reports SandraRose.com. And while details are skimpy on his death, fans of his popular ’90s television show are sending his family their condolences.
“If you a true Atlien you had to watch “American Rap Makers” he helped me introduce everyone #RIP,” wrote Jermaine Dupri on Twitter.
“RIP Arnell Star. He gave shine to all Atlanta’s 90s stars,” added Killer Mike.
“American Music Makers” highlighted little known Atlanta talent on WUPA-TV UPN 69 in the mid- ’90s. Originally called “American Rap Makers” the program is said to have started as a radio show and would later highlight acts like Lil Jon and the Eastside Boyz.
Funeral services for Starr will be held this Saturday in Alabama. –danielle canada
