Fans, media and critics have all watched veteran rapper Lil’ Kim‘s facial transformations for years with shock and awe. Her latest appearance on “RapFix Live” led to more scrutiny and criticism for the Queen Bee’s seemingly-endless obsession with plastic surgery. While the rapper and her representatives have claimed that the latest photos of her are fabrications, it is undeniable that Kimberly Jones circa 2013 is a far cry from the brazen young woman who emerged alongside the Notorious B.I.G. in the mid-1990s.
Kim was once almost universally considered the sexiest woman in hip-hop and the torchbearer for female emcees. Even while she was being criticized for her hypersexualized image, there were those who felt she represented for beauty and fashion in the world of male-dominated rap.
That all seems like ancient history now.
But while Kim can no longer be considered a sex symbol, it’s interesting to note just how gracefully some of hip-hop’s other notable female stars have aged. Many of these women first burst onto the scene as teenagers or in their early 20s, yet now, in their mid-30s to late-40s, they still exude a radiance and grace that should be commended.
