College basketball star Kevin Ware caused the country to recoil in horror after the Louisville Cardinal suffered one of the most horrific sports injuries in American history. After he landed on his leg, it pretty much snapped in half and the bone protruded through the skin to terrify his teammates and adversaries alike. Even members of the Duke Blue Devils, whom they were playing against in the Elite Eight for the right to go to the Final Four in Atlanta, were affected tremendously. Some Blue Devil players were crying, and even sobbing, and it may have contributed to Louisville’s blowout of Duke, one of the worst losses in that program’s storied history.
As the country supports the young man in his efforts at complete recovery, the we are reminded of the most gruesome sports injuries of all time.
