5 reasons LL Cool J and Brad Paisley’s ‘Accidental Racist’ is the worst song of 2013

Brad Paisley’s failure to acknowledge the reality of the confederate flag

Brad Paisley sings, “Red flag on my chest is like the elephant in the corner of the South and I just walked him in the room.” Of course, he doesn’t want people to think he is racist because he wears a shirt with a Confederate flag symbol. But Paisley understands the history of that flag and everything it represents. So if he aligns himself with that flag, he has to know that he will face the consequences for making that choice. The Confederacy wanted to continue the practice of slavery and seceded from the Union in order to maintain slavery all under that flag. Paisley has the freedom to wear that flag but it’s also a show of support for the racism that the flag represents.
