A Great Depression-era photo of a Harlem man who bears striking resemblance to hip hop royalty Jay-Z has museum experts and fans stunned and sparking conspiracy theories all over cyberspace.

Recently, The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture at the New York Public Library asked a question on their blog and Facebook page, after curators noticed a 1939 Jay-Z look-alike photo of a man taken in the upper portion of Manhattan. Who is the unidentified man taken in this1939 photo that bears a striking resemblance to Jay-Z?

The black-and-white photograph, taken by Sid Grossman at the tail end of the Great Depression, shows the Jay-Z look-alike leaning on a railing and staring directly at the camera.

“I was immediately struck by the similarity to Jay-Z and actually laughed out loud,” said Sylviane A. Diouf, Schomburg’s Curator of Digital Collections. “I still hope somebody will tell us who that young man really was.”

Researchers have yet to identify the man, and since the photo was released, it has fueled all sorts of theories. Some are claiming that Jay-Z is in the Illuminati (members of the Illuminati supposedly believe in immortality).

So, what do you think of the 1939 Jay-Z look-alike photo?

Take a look and see for yourself.
