Michele Henney

Michele Henney is a financial controller in the Fort Lauderdale, Fla., area. Henney has degrees in both business administration and accounting as well as an MBA. Her work includes financial reporting, analysis and business valuation. Henney attended Barry University. In 2010 she started a fashion, lifestyle and event company called Trunque.


What inspires you to work every day?
The concept of being disciplined and having a structured professional life adds that necessary dimension to one’s life.


How did you determine your career path?
My father’s guidance. He impressed upon me the importance of having a profession that would always be in demand.

Describe your goal-setting methods and how you evaluate your success?
I live by lists. Once I write something down, it becomes a contract that I enter into with myself. I document my goals annually and I am always in a state of evaluation.


Who do you consider your peers in your field and who do you admire most?
Suzan McDowell and Michelle Swaby for their relentless efforts, loyalty and hard work.

Outside of your industry, name two role models for success.
Sidney Poitier and Bill Cosby for always being poised.

Names three books that changed how you saw life.
Not a book, but the movie, Damage, changed my life.

Describe the voice of success that you hear in your head.
Get up every day and do your best even if you feel horrible.

Community success based on what you do in the community means what to you?
I need to do more. We can all do more.

What software and technology apps have made the biggest difference in your life?

Microsoft Office

How do music and culture define your self-identity?
I am an artist at heart. Without music and culture, I would not want to exist.

What is your favorite vacation spot?
South of France

If you could change one thing about the world what would it be?
The obvious; the hatred of men toward each other.

If you could change one thing about yourself what would it be?

I would not change anything. I have learned to love my strengths and embrace my weaknesses.
