Mirror Hair Salon at Carol’s Daughter opens in Atlanta

Lisa Price and Robin Groover2 RSZ

With more than 40 years between them providing beauty care to women of color, Lisa Price, Carol’s Daughter founder, and Robin Groover, owner of Groove Therapy Healthy Hair Care and the co-founder of Atlanta-based Too Groovy hair salon, have teamed up for a breakthrough venture — Mirror: the Hair Salon at Carol’s Daughter, a salon dedicated to hair education, consultation and treatments.

If there were a such thing as a Beauty Bible, the merging of these two beauty empires have all 66 books covered from “Genesis” to “Revelations.” Groover’s ministry is “healthy hair” and Price’s passion is for “people to be comfortable with themselves,” which is what makes this union so perfect.

It was Groover’s finely tuned hair conditioning, steam therapy treatments and straightening technique — resulting in healthy hair that grows out beautifully — that caught Price’s attention. With 20 years under its belt, Carol’s Daughter is one of the most recognizable brands in natural beauty products; expansion in to natural hair care was simply natural.

It’s been six weeks since Carol’s Daughter opened Mirror: the Hair Salon at it’s Harlem flagship, and now it’s Atlanta counterpart has opened at Lenox Square mall located in the Buckhead community at 3393 Peachtree Rd. NE.

Here, they discuss the partnership in part and their commitment to clients.

“The reason we decided to do it [Mirror the salon]. We have been doing a lot of demonstrations particularly in this store in Lenox Mall. We found that people wanted to buy the product [Carol’s Daughter hair care] wanted to try it but didn’t know what to do with it when they got home. It felt natural to try a salon so I partnered with Robin.” –Lisa Price

“Being Carol’s Daughter, Lisa Price’s salon partner, I am so excited because my personal goal has always been beautiful healthy hair for everyone who has an opportunity to have it. With a quest like this, it’s not a journey I can take alone. When it comes to education and sharing knowledge, it has been awesome.”–Robin D. Groover

“Opening the salon in February in New York [Harlem] was really exciting, because we had the opportunity to see different hair textures and types that allow us to really hone in.”–Robin D. Groover

“The True Reflections Consultation involves discovering your personal texture, type and condition. Here at Mirror, our goal is to provide a signature blueprint for your beautiful hair. We customize all the therapies that we offer.” –Robin D. Groover

“We ensure that the texture, type and condition of your hair is paired with the right product and the right amount and application. We categorize textures like fabrics: silk, satin, wool and cotton.” –Robin D. Groover

“Our ceramic fusion is a chemical-free technique that allows you to go from a cotton, wool or curly-curly texture to silky straight.” –Robin D. Groover
