Know what type of dye you are using.
Whether you want a temporary or permanent color, understanding the difference between the two is imperative. Temporary dyes are typically much brighter and come in sprays, rinses and foams. Semi-permanent dyes last a little longer than temporary ones do, typically around four to five shampoos. Semipermanent color cannot lighten the hair. Permanent hair color really is permanent, meaning that it will not wash out. But, it can fade. The only way to get rid of the color is to either go through a stripping process or dye it back to your natural color.
The color on box is not the color your going to get.
If you are using a box hair coloring, it is important to know that the color on the box is most likely not going to look exactly the same on you. Everyone’s hair is different so it is good to follow the advice on the box. Try a test strand of hair first to make sure that you like it.
