Ford’s Shawn Thompson hands over keys to a brand-new Fusion at 2013 BET Awards

“This year, we had a contest, Rolling With Ford, at the BET Awards 2013, we are so excited to be here with Byron from St. Louis,” offers Shawn Thompson, multicultural marketing manager of Ford Motor Company, who had the privilege of presenting Byron Keaton a brand new Ford Fusion as part of the “Rolling with Ford” campaign.

As if winning a trip for two to Los Angeles to the BET Awards weren’t enough, Keaton’s VIP treatment also included exclusive access to the pre-show red carpet, access to the Ford Hot Spot Room – the social media lounge – and tickets to the show.

The St. Louis Community College-Forest Park’s theater major was caught completely by surprise as apparent by the “holy dance moves” he displayed when Thompson made the announcement.

“This experience has been everything plus some,” he exclaims.


The contest required participants to upload a 60-second video showing and telling why they should be selected to take home a 2013 Ford Fusion. Keaton submitted a mash-up of Beyoncé’s “Love on Top,” highlighting Ford, in his video.
