All eyes were on Jay-Z earlier this week when he made a surprise appearance on Twitter for an impromptu Q-and-A session where he discussed any and everything with fans. And one memorable topic was Miley Cyrus and her love of twerking, causing a bit of an uproar with fans either praising or criticizing Cyrus. Now, Cyrus has responded to the fiasco and is defending her right to twerk however much she wants to.
The drama all began when one curious fan made a reference to Jay’s Magna Carter Holy Grail track “Somewhereinamerica,” in which Hov raps, “When I was talking Instagram, Last thing you wanted was your picture snapped/Feds still lurking, They see I’m still putting work in/Cause somewhere in America, Miley Cyrus is still twerkin’/Twerk, twerk, twerk, twerk/Twerk, Miley, Miley, twerk.”
The fan asked Jay, “You really think Miley Cyrus still twerking somewhere in America?”
To which Jay responded, “yes! she represents an old worlds worst nightmare,” while adding “Black neighbor, and the daughter not seeing color, twerk.”
Countless fans chimed in on the matter and, after a few hours, Cyrus finally defended herself and her right to twerk.
“Call it what you want. But I don’t see Mr. Carter shoutin any of you b—— out. #twerkmileytwerk,” wrote Cyrus.
After Jay agreed with a retweet, Cyrus added, “Exactly right. I am an old worlds worst nightmare. #outwiththeold #inwiththenewnew.”
Clearly, Cyrus is unbothered by all of the twerk hate, which is what anyone would expect. But she’s not the only celeb who’s in love with twerking. Check out some other celebrity twerkers below. –nicholas robinson
