BET-banned rapper Webbie expresses interest in becoming a preacher?

Webbie rose to fame in the mid-2000s on the strength of trap rap singles like “Give Me That,” and “Bad B—h,” but the Louisiana native who was banned from MTV for making derogatory comments to former “106 & Park” host Rocsi says that he may become a preacher. Speaking to Power 105.1’s “The Breakfast Club” this week, Webbie referred to himself as a preacher, though he isn’t “official.”

“I think I’m a preacher, man. I talked in front of two churches,” Webbie shared. “What they give you to certify a preacher? Well, look here, I ain’t go to no school and I’m a preacher. Certified.”

He discussed his longtime friend and fellow rap star Lil Boosie and Boosie’s prison sentence. Even that was framed in a spiritual context by Webbie.

“God good, man. God real,” said Webbie. “Like back to my brother, Lil Boosie, it’s crazy and you’ll never know unless you the person, but I told him. I said it, I said ‘Man, you gon’ be straight.’ I said ‘God put you in there for a reason. To protect you, bruh. Cause he’s probably saying you would’ve got killed or something or something else was gon’ happen. You gon’ be straight.’ ”

In addition to the BET banning, Webbie was also arrested and charged with robbery and battery last year. He was accused of kicking a woman down a flight of stairs at a hotel in Baton Rouge, La., and taking $340 from her purse.
