Detroit turns 312 years old; its greatest cultural jewels and landmarks

det, book cadillac

The Book-Cadillac — When it opened in 1924 as a flagship luxury hotel, the Book-Cadillac was the tallest hotel in the world at 349 feet. The Neo-Renaissance-styled hotel located on Washington Boulevard in downtown Detroit saw its heydays during the 1930’s and 1940’s. By the 1980’s the hotel was in decline and sat empty for more than 20 years. It was finally restored in 2008 and reopened as the Westin Book Cadillac Hotel and Residences. The Book-Cadillac has a new reason to shine as one of Detroit’s popular landmarks.
