Philadelphia Regina Bennett, 46, has been charged with unlawful restraint, terroristic threats, simple assault, and false imprisonment for allowing her disabled cousin, 36, who suffered with cerebral palsy to sleep tied to a urine-soaked bed, develop bed sores and become severely malnourished. She kept her relative in the basement of her brownstone on the 200 block of Linton Street in Olney.
If police hadn’t responded a to fight that Bennett had with her neighbor, who knows how long this woman would have been able to endure this abuse and neglect.
Bennett was appointed the victim’s caretaker in 2009, which involved managing her financial affairs.
The victim is in doctor’s care at Albert Einstein Hospital for observation.
