Singer Sean Kingston has reportedly settled a civil suit that was filed against him and his former bodyguards that accused them of gang-raping a girl. The now-22-year-old woman alleged that the crime happened in 2010. TMZ reports that she has settled out of court. The exact amount of the settlement has not been disclosed.
According to reports, Kingston has not admitted guilt, but says that he wants to focus on his upcoming album release and tour.
The woman’s initial lawsuit sought $5 million in damages, and Kingston allegedly paid her a “fraction” of that to make the suit go away. Despite settling out of court, Kingston’s inner circle claims that they didn’t believe the woman’s story would go very far in a court of law. Kingston has said that he did have sex with the girl, but that it was consensual.
“Her story wasn’t consistent. She told various stories throughout her interviews with police,” claims an inside source. “Her friend’s story wasn’t consistent with hers. The medical report had no indications of force.”
The Jamaican R&B star hasn’t released an album since 2009’s Tomorrow. His comeback project, Back 2 Life, is due to be released September 19.
