Drake pop-up event in New York City marred by violence

Reports of a fight marred the one-day opening of Drake‘s pop-up shop in New York City. The shop, “Compliments of the Company,” is one of three that featured apparel promoting Nothing Was the Same, Drake’s upcoming album. But it looks like the promotional tactic took a negative turn.

There are conflicting reports as to what exactly took place at the NYC location, but it is clear that the shop was closed early. It was initially claimed that the shop was immediately shut down due to the fight.

But an Alife employee reportedly told the crowd in attendance that “the Drake thing is off,” and it was later stated that there was no brawl.

“There was no fight,” the employee was quoted as saying in a statement to Complex. “That was just a rumor. We ran out of shirts and needed to clear the line.”

Police also denied that a fight had taken place; despite the fact that several police officers, squad cars and an ambulance were on the scene.

Drake was not at the New York City pop-up shop. He was photographed posing with fans at the Los Angeles location later in the day.
