Deli owners Nabal Jaghab, 57, and Karim Jaghab, 26, have been charged with grand larceny for allegedly scamming a customer. The non-English-speaking customer brought his winning “Unwrap the Cash” ticket to the deli in Long Island, NY and was handed $1,000 cash–instead of the $1 million he was owed.

The customer, 34, returned the next day demanding his ticket back. New York State Lottery regulations allow for the return of the ticket. According to police, Karim’s father Nabal told the customer he’d only won $10,000 and offered to give him more money as long as he didn’t involve police. The lottery winner didn’t fall for it.
