Jawon Johnson was forced to spend four days in jail after being arrested by police in Havre De Grace, Md.

According to a report by CBS Baltimore, Johnson was arrested after making an illegal U-turn on Nov. 30. But instead of receiving a ticket, Johnson was handcuffed and taken to jail.

Although he pleaded with police and told them he was a college student and football player at West Virginia State, they ignored him and kept him behind bars for four days.

Johnson said he had to stay in his cell for 23 hours out of the day.

Police believed that he was a burglary suspect named Jawan Johnson. The difference in their names is an “a” and “o.”

After Jawon was finally released from prison, his mother told media outlets that she wants the arresting officer to be reprimanded.
