Kenya Moore responds to Brandi Glanville’s racist comment
Kenya Moore is lashing out at Brandi Glanville of the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” for a ridiculously off-color and racist remark. On Monday’s episode, viewers watched as Glanville got rowdily drunk (as usual) while on a trip to Palm Springs with the other housewives. After getting into the pool at the resort where they’re staying for their “vacation,” Glanville asks the wives to join her. When Joyce, a beautiful new Puerto Rican housewife, retorts that she can’t swim, Glanville lets loose with a blatantly racist comment.
“You’re a black person,” said Glanville. Then even after seeing the stunned expressions on everyone’s faces, she stood by her comment. “It was a joke and my black friends would’ve laughed crazy, ‘cause they don’t go in the pool because they will get their weave f—– up,” she said. “All my black friends can’t swim!” she added.
A defiant Joyce then put Glanville in her place.
“Yes, I’m black. What’s your problem?” said Joyce. “Puerto Ricans are black, they’re Indian and they’re Spanish. So I am a mix of three cultures and I’m very proud to represent all three.”
Glanville has since rescinded her comment and wrote a Bravo blog explaining that she’s not racist because she’s dated several black men and has black friends, a common way of thinking among racists.
“To start off, I have been in several romantic relationships over the years with African American men and still have close relationships with those ex-boyfriends even now,” wrote Glanville.
“For over 20 years now, I have had girlfriends from pretty much every ethnic [sic] background. Sometimes (actually a lot of times) these girlfriends and I joke inappropriately with each other. These jokes are clearly not ready for TV,” she added.
Kenya Moore, whom Glanville previously called “desperate” for stating that she wants to get married, was one of several people to comment on Glanville’s half-wit behavior.
