Carmelo Anthony breaks Kobe Bryant’s record by scoring 62 points in Madison Square Garden

Carmelo Anthony now holds the record for most points scored in Madison Square Garden. On Jan. 24, Anthony broke Kobe Bryant’s record by scoring 62 points against the Charlotte Bobcats. Bryant scored 61 points against the Knicks in 2009.

Anthony broke the record by hitting 23 of 35 field goals and making six three-pointers. From the onset, the Bobcats could not control Anthony. By the end of the third quarter, Anthony had scored 56 points.  He could have actually scored more, but New York Knicks coach Mike Woodson pulled Anthony from the game after he broke the record around the seven minute mark of the 4th quarter.

It’s the one bright spot during a disappointing season for the Knicks. They’re currently three games out of playoff contention and have won 15 games against 27 losses.
