This one can be filed under the “You’ve-Got-To-Be-Kidding” category.

An aging multimillionaire has actually asked the wife he divorced to stay in the house — as a paid staff member. As in being his maid.

Here’s another twist to this strange tale: this British investor is asking his ex-wife to remain in the home even as he brings his new love and her child into their London mansion.

This story came to light because the man, now in his 70s, explained to the court he is “bewildered” by the “aggressive” behavior of his ex-wife after he explained he was moving the younger woman and her child into their home.

It will be interesting to see if the ex-wife bothers with the prospect of being a maid after a London High Court judge told the millionaire that his ex-wife is entitled to half his $20 million fortune.

The man and ex-wife were wed in the in the 1970s and divorced in the 1990s. However, they continued to live under the same roof since the divorce and maintained, in their words, a “usual” relationship, reports the Telegraph.

One law expert said he could only recall one such other occurrence of a wealthy man had the wife he divorced to stay on as a paid staff in the home in his 40 years of experience. He recalled the story of a Thai woman who had been bewitched into divorce by her cunning British husband and summarily stayed in the home “effectively as a housekeeper.”

The spurned and humiliated Thai ex-wife got her revenge over time, however. After that man died, a judge ruled the first wife had the right to share the home with the second wife.
