Lifetime’s “The Gabby Douglas Story”
Lifetime is kicking off black history month with”The Gabby Douglas Story.” The original movie will detail the background of Gabby Douglas, the first African American dubbed Individual All-Around Champion in artistic gymnastics at the Olympic Games. According to Douglas, the film about her life is more detailed than her previous book Grace, Gold, and Glory My Leap of Faith. Furthermore, it’s a new way to inspire fans.
“When I was approached to do a film about my life story I said yes because you know, it’s kind of different from the book,” said Douglas to members of the press.
“You actually get to see the challenges and the struggles and my life story […] It sounded like a very amazing opportunity so my family and I said ‘yes’.”
“I’m so glad to have this platform to tell them [my fans] that you can achieve anything that you in life that you want to achieve,” she added.
“I just tell them just to believe in themselves.”
“The Gabby Douglas Story” premieres tonight, Saturday, Feb. 1, at 8:00pm ET/PT.
