Freddie Gibbs and Madlib talk about new LP, hit the road

MadGibbs is back.


With a handul of EPs under their belt, Freddie Gibbs and Madlib have finally decided to give the fans what they want: a full length album.


The upcoming album is called Piñata and Gibbs describes it as “a gangster Blaxploitation film on wax”. Scarface, Raekwon, Ab-Soul, BJ The Chicago Kid, Mac Miller, Danny Brown are among the emcees that all stop by for guest appearances. The first single, “Robes” features Odd Future’s Earl Sweatshirt and Domo Genesis.

“I will show you my flaws, I’ll show you what I’ve done wrong and what I’ve f**ked up at,” Gibbs says about the project. “I don’t regret s**t, but I’ll show you the things I’m not proud of. I’m about to show n***as how to rap again,” Gibbs continues. “Everybody else is going to fall in line.”


The duo will embark on a small tour to promote the Piñata LP. Tour dates are as follows:

3/7/13 – Chicago, IL – Metro

3/8/13 – Denver, CO – Cervantes

3/15/13 – Austin, TX – North Door (Stones Throw showcase)

3/21/13 – Boston, MA – Middle East Downstairs

3/22/13 – New York, NY – Gramercy Theatre

3/27/13 – San Francisco, CA – 103 Harriet

3/28/13 – Los Angeles, CA – Echoplex

Fans can look for Piñata to be in stores on March 18th.
