Word on the street is that Young Money boss Lil Wayne is just about ready to drop the fifth and final installment of his acclaimed The Carter series. The only questions now are when and how?
Though the brass at Cash Money/Young Money are being rather tight lipped about The Carter V, some lips are beginning to have slow leaks as hints and subtle mentions are beginning to surface.
Take for instance this tweet from Drake last week:
Mel Smith, Vice President of Promotion at Cash Money went to confirm that The Carter V is near and that more than likely it will be a surprise.
“We’re very close to dropping the album. It’s going to be a huge surprise to everyone, it’s an incredible album… I can’t release the date because he wants to surprise people, he wants his true fan base to get excited but he’s worked extremely hard on it and you won’t be disappointed,” says Smith. “He’s one of the artists like Prince who just continues to record. He does it for the love of the art, for the record, he continues to work hard to top himself, like when he does the I Am Not A Human Being records that he’s, which are a little more rock and roll tangent, a little more pop tangent while Tha Carter V is a little more Lil Wayne getting it to you straight from New Orleans.”
Looks like all you diehard Weezy fans will have to keep near your computers and monitor the social networks closely if you hope to catch C5 when it drops. As the age old adage goes, “If you stay ready, you don’t have to get ready.”
