Teen snaps selfie next to dead body

selfie dead bodyThe lust for fame is the new national drug epidemic.

Many people are so “desert thirsty” for attention and status that they will too easily discard all vestiges of common sense, human dignity and laws in order to procure instant fame.

As local TV station WHNT News reports, a female student was on a class field trip to the University of Alabama-Birmingham’s biology department when the student covertly snapped a selfie next to a cadaver.

The student, who has not been named, was part of a class where they store donated cadavers for research purposes. They were learning about the school’s anatomical donor program when she surreptitiously snapped the photo and uploaded it to Instagram.

UAB has a policy that forbids students from having cellphones or recording devices on their persons during these tours, but the girl somehow circumvented the university’s rules. Once the student uploaded the photo to Instagram, it was quickly screen-grabbed by a classmate.

Today, the young woman faces severe sanctions for her social media snafu, and school district representatives say they are in the process of “deciding on the discipline that will occur.”

UAB also released the following statement:

“A student was made explicitly aware of these policies and breached them. This kind of disrespect is unacceptable and very disappointing. We will review our processes to ensure this does not happen again.”
