Formerly incarcerated rapper Lil Boosie has not been taken back to prison for marijuana possession. A satirical “news” story surfaced shortly after Boosie, born Torrence Hatch, was released from prison Wednesday (March 5.) The story began circulating on social media, with many fans believing it to be a true and factual account of the rap star’s arrest.

The article was published on Huzlers–a “satire” news site. It stated that “rapper Lil Boosie finds himself in jail again for marijuana possession. In just less than 24 hours from being released from a Louisiana prison, Lil Boosie has been arrested again for illegal drugs and if found guilty, will receive a minimum of 2 years in prison.”

Huzlers describes its site as a “combination of real shocking news and satire news to keep its visitors in a state of disbelief.”

Boosie was released from Louisiana State Penitentiary this week after being imprisoned for nearly five years. He pleaded guilty to drug possession in 2009 and also faced first-degree murder charges while incarcerated. He was found not guilty of those charges in 2012.

He left prison shortly after 7 p.m. Wednesday and will remain on supervised parole until 2018. A “Free Boosie” campaign generated attention for the rapper during his incarceration.

“I think the folks are waiting for my return to the game,” he told BET back in February.
