Mona Scott Young sued over ‘Love & Hip Hop’

Mona Scott-Young’s widely popular reality show could cost her $50 million if she loses a new lawsuit. Young, VH1,  MTV Networks, Jeff Olde, Viacom and a number of others have all been in named in a suit filed by 8th Wonder Entertainment, Nicki Lum-Davis and Trisha Lum. According to 8th Wonder and the Lums, Young and her fellow defendants stole their reality TV show idea.

According to the lawsuit obtained by TattleTailzz, the plaintiffs say they pitched the idea of a show called “Hip Hop Wives” to VH1. The show would have included DMX’s ex-wife Tashera Simmons, Jim Jone’s fiancee Chrissy Lampkin, Swizz Beatz’s ex-wife Mashonda Tifere and Irv Gotti’s ex-wife Debbie Lorenzoco.

The plaintiffs claim that Olde, who served as VH1’s executive vice president of original programming at the time, informed them that VH1 was no longer interested in producing “an urban-based show that had a similar audience to “Basketball Wives.” Olde also added that the network would not be producing a show of that nature in the future.

Just before that, Lampkin, who was managed by Scott-Young at the time, allegedly mysteriously dropped out of the program.

According to 8th Wonder Entertainment, Scott-Young and her television cohorts conspired to steal their idea for “Hip Hop Wives” and did so successfully. The group has submitted court documents showing signed contracts and emails to back up their claims.

They are asking for a whopping $50 million for copyright infringement, fraud, breach of contract and breach of confidence.

Young has yet to publicly responded to the lawsuit.
