NFL players blast the ban on dunking on goal posts

NFL players, announcers and fans roared with disapproval when the NFL owners voted to ban dunking over the goal posts after scoring touchdowns.

The NFL seems to be cracking down on anything remotely fun for the players these days. The latest move was announced Tuesday: the league will no longer allow players to dunk the football over the field goal post as part of their touchdown celebration.

The NFL had previously banned players from using the football as a prop during celebrations, so disallowing dunks from taking place is just a further adaptation of the rule.

NFL head of officiating, Dean Blandino, informed the “Dan Patrick Show” of the new rule that will result in a penalty. The players went ballistic on such a ridiculous rule being enacted that further squelches fun in the game. Of course, the legendary “Lambeau Leap” is allowed to remain as long as only one person jumps into the stands at a time. If two players leap into the stands at the same time following a touchdown, that will also draw a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.
