With the compilation Young Money: Rise Of An Empire already on the streets, and forthcoming releases of Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter V and Nicki Minaj’s The Pink Print, it’s safe to say that the Young Money crew is looking to have a pretty big 2014. After much speculation and many phantom release dates, YMCMB boss Birdman has finally shed some light on when we can expect Wayne’s and Nicki’s albums.
Speaking with Billboard about Nicki’s album, Birdman assures that while she hasn’t set a solid release date, her album will definitely come after Wayne’s:
This album is going to have a little bit of everything but more rap. I am sure some of the team will be on it. She’s still doing her thing, then getting features on it. She’s definitely coming this year. She hasn’t picked a date yet. What she did for Young Money is totally different then what she’s doing for her album. She’s more girly-er. Tha Carter V will definitely come before Nicki’s [album].
According to Nicki, her album “is not going to have a release date. You’ll never know when it’s coming until it just comes.” Last month while visiting The Angie Martinez Show, Minaj said though her release date may be a surprise, her roll out won’t be similar to Beyoncé’s:
Not all the way. I won’t set a release date until the album is really done and until I’ve lived with it for a long time… I’m not going to pull a B, I’m just going to chill for a second and see how it goes.
