Benzino recovering from shooting at his mother’s funeral
After being shot by a relative, Benzino is sharing photos from his hospital bed. As previously reported, the “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta” star was shot by his nephew, 36-year-old Gai Scott, during his mother’s funeral procession in Duxbury, Mass.
Authorities report that Scott pulled his Bentley up to Benzino’s red Dodge SUV and fired multiple times striking the rapper in the shoulder. Zino also suffered a graze wound to the back. Scott was arrested and charged with armed assault with intent to murder. He will be arraigned in Plymouth District Court on Monday, March 31.
Now recovering in the hospital and apparently stable enough for social media, Benzino is sharing photos on Instagram. In one, he poses with his eyes closed while his fiancée, Althea Heart, stands by his side. He dubs her his “soul mate” and notes that his mother “touched him” to keep him safe during the shooting.
He later shared a photo with an inspirational message.
Stevie J, his best friend and co-star, also shared recovery photos of the rapper on social media, including the below pic of Benzino’s longtime business partner Dave Mays visiting him in the hospital.
