Top myths that have been busted about finally getting a black president

President Obama 2014 State of the Union Address

President Obama has a tough job. Even with the passage and now success of Obamacare with seven million enrolled, people still feel that he should do more. Rolling out spoke with black intellectuals, Dr. Illya Davis, Dr. Earle Mitchell, Dr, Eddie Glaude and Dr. Samuel T. Ross-Lee about Obama myths as president that have been busted or proven false:

The nature and function of the presidency has not been established or formulated prior to anyone’s election to the office.

Although there are nuanced ways of applying the script, it has already been put in place. The U.S president will be imperialistic, nationalistic, isolationist when politically expedient and unilaterally truculent when convenient, pro-capitalist with minimal oversight of corporate interests.

That there would never be a black president.

Obama was elected and then re-elected. Busted

Just because you get a black president, Obama, in particular, he will make sweeping change and correct all the ills of America — specifically black America.

Myth busted

We will live in a post-racial America

His position has had to be more nuanced than any president in American history due to his color. However, this did not have to be. One has never seen a president more careful with words toward white America, but we assume this had to be done to get votes and assuage white guilt. Either way a post-racial America is a fallacy with a black president — and we still have a few years to see just how far the rabbit hole goes.

The election of a black president is proof that white people will help black people accomplish anything.

Not if you look at Congress.

All blacks will be gainfully employed or own profitable businesses.

Myths busted!!
