Drake clowned on Twitter for switching NCAA loyalties after UConn win

Despite showing up in the Kentucky Wildcats locker room after their Final Four win last weekend, hip-hop star Drake was photographed hanging out with former University of Connecticut star Richard “Rip” Hamilton, following UConn’s victory over Kentucky in the NCAA championship game last night. The photo caused many fans to sneer at Drake’s apparently shifting loyalties; as he was considered to be a die-hard Kentucky fan after several players spoke about the support he showed during his earlier locker-room visit.

“He just told us to stay confident, and it’s on us now,” freshman Andrew Harrison told FOX News at the time. “Just keep playing and don’t be satisfied, so that was exciting for all of us.”

Dominique Hawkins, also a freshman, gushed about how he’d never celebrated a victory with a superstar. “It’s a blessing to play for Kentucky because we have so many fans, and fans like Drake,” Hawkins said. “He told us to enjoy the moment and get what you want.”

So, of course, the photo of the rapper with Rip got people’s attention.

The UConn Twitter account had previously offered President Barack Obama a spot on the team’s bandwagon after the Huskies defeated the president’s national champion pick, Michigan State, in the Elite Eight. After Drake’s allegiances came into question, whomever tweets from the account decided to take a potshot at Drizzy.

“Imma just hand @Drake a business card and say… We Made It ” the tweet read.
