13-year-old charged with murder for shooting sister on dare

A 13-year-old boy allegedly shot and killed his 10-year-old sister after a dare. According to reports by WREG in Memphis, Tennessee, the 13-year-old and his younger sister where home alone during a school day on April 21.

The 13-year-old boy told authorities that his sister dared him to shoot her before the incident took place. The boy shot his sibling and she eventually died.


The boy often struggled with making the right decisions and was previously arrested for assault and shoplifting. His neighbors also told police that he shot out car windows.

His parents have yet to reveal why the boy and his sister were home alone on a school day. Authorities are considering charging his parents.


The boy has been charged with second-degree murder.
