You know those stickers that appear on the cover of the music you buy at the store? Well, back in 1984, Prince wrote and released this little ditty called “Darling Nikki” that in part motivated Tipper Gore to start the Parents Music Resource Center. After hearings before Congress about violent and sexually explicit music, the now seemingly commonplace sticker was created to be placed on albums that contain profane language or references to sex, drugs and violence.
