Meshach Taylor, best known for his role as Anthony Bouvier, the assistant to four main female characters on the popular late 80’s sitcom “Designing Women,” passed away on Saturday night. He was 67.

Per the LA Times, the Emmy-nominated actor was in hospice care at his family’s home in Altadena, California, surrounded by his wife and children when he died at 10:47 p.m.

“It is with love and gratitude that we sorrowfully announce that our darling, amazingly brilliant and dynamic, Meshach, the incredible father, husband, son and friend has begun his grand transition,” Taylor’s family shared on Facebook on Friday, June 27.

According to CNN, Taylor had been battling cancer and faded noticeably towards the end of the week.
