New York’s LaGuardia School responds to critics after their decision to deny rapper and alum Nicki Minaj from returning to her high school to meet with students.
As you may recall, last week, Minaj hit up Twitter to vent after she was forbid to return to her high school stomping grounds to “inspire” students.
She tweeted…
“I wanted to go back to my HS and speak to the students but the new principal declined.”
“No need for me to inspire them, I guess.”
However, when asked for a reason as to why her request was denied, the “Anaconda” rapper responded as if she was left in the dark…
“Not really…I guess I’m not good enough.”
“That school changed my life and I wanted to pay it forward to the students there now,”
“I was really looking forward to it.”
It turns out however, that Minaj who graduated from the arts school in 2000, may have had another agenda. In a letter released to parents on behalf of their decision, the LaGuardia School stated that Minaj wanted to film the entire event, which is strictly against school policy.
Check out what they had to say below…
“The fact is that Ms. Minaj was told by the NYC Department of Education that she would not be allowed to enter the school with a television crew,” the letter states. “The DOE has policies in place to protect the privacy and security of all its students. I’m sure we all appreciate the strict enforcement of these policies with regard to the safety of our children.”
In light of this new development, we can understand why the LaGuardia School denied the “Bang Bang” artist’s request. But what will Minaj have to say about these new reports? – ruthie hawkins/@ruubabie
