Stop the domestic violence!
Another celebrity athlete is arrested and charged with one count of domestic assault. Charlotte Hornets’ Jeffery Taylor was apprehended Thursday morning in Michigan following a domestic dispute with his longtime girlfriend.
WCNC reports…
“Jeffery Matthew Taylor, 25, was arrested at the East Lansing Marriott at University Place around 1 a.m. Thursday.
Taylor is charged with one count of domestic assault, assault and malicious destruction of property.
His bond was set at $5,000.”
Matthew is the second player out of Charlotte to recently make headlines for domestic violence charges. Charlotte Panthers’ Greg Hardy is awaiting a jury trial.
Unlike the NFL, where officials have been accused of letting recent domestic violence cases fall under the radar, the NBA has acted with a swift hand, calling for a minimum 10-game suspension and mandatory counseling for a conviction on a first offense. While this is the minimum, the league can impose tougher penalties should they see fit.
Late Thursday night, The Hornets’ released a brief statement saying…
“The Charlotte Hornets were made aware of the incident involving Jeffery Taylor early this evening. The organization is in the process of gathering more information and doing our due diligence. This is a matter that we take very seriously.”
The forward was out most of last year after hurting his Achilles’ tendon.
