MC Hammer “Have You Seen Her”
Why, Hammer? What did the Chi-Lites ever do to you? The happy-footed pop rap superstar from the Bay decided to take a swing at one of soul’s greatest ballads. Hammer made a career out of (ahem) re-imaging other peoples’ songs, which made him Puff Daddy before Puff Daddy. But on this god-awful track, he did an almost full-on cover (with help from his long-forgotten R&B proteges Special Generation.) D-list vocalists + Hammer’s corny spoken-rap interjections = bad, bad cover.
